Community action across the SDGs is key for ensuring effective and sustainable solutions, innovative approaches and partnerships and addressing the holistic needs of individuals served. None of the SDGs can be achieved without fully supported, fully funded and fully engaged local communities.
The UN High Level Political Forum is a crucial moment to showcase the lessons learned of decades of experience of the community response to HIV, Ebola, humanitarian crises and reaching the most marginalized.
At the side event entitled Communities speak out: the role of community action in delivering the SDGs, which will take place in UNICEF, 3 United Nations Plaza, New York, on July 17th from 05:45-08:30 pm, we will learn from community actors from Kenya, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Botswana working with marginalized communities, key populations, women and girls how communities contribute to the SDGs and what the challenges are for sustaining and scaling up their work. We will also learn from key donor governments, including the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Denmark, what a successful approach to funding the community response to health could look like.
Please join us for this important discussion! Foods and drinks will be served prior to the event. Please RSVP to: HLPFfirstname.lastname@example.org.
